AHA (glycolic/lactic acid)

Alpha-hydroxy acids (glycolic, lactic, mandelic) that exfoliate the skin’s surface to smooth texture and fade marks.

How to use it

Use a few nights a week — never in the same session as another strong exfoliant or a retinoid. Follow with moisturizer and daily SPF.

Avoid combining with

AHA (glycolic/lactic acid) + Retinoid (Vitamin A)

Both speed cell turnover — together they can over-exfoliate and irritate.

Alternate nights, or use the AHA in the AM and the retinoid at night.

AHA (glycolic/lactic acid) + Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid)

Stacking acidic actives disrupts skin pH and can damage the moisture barrier.

Separate them — e.g. vitamin C in the AM, the acid at night.

AHA (glycolic/lactic acid) + AHA (glycolic/lactic acid)

Multiple exfoliating acids in one session over-exfoliate the skin.

Use one exfoliant at a time, a few times a week — not layered daily.

AHA (glycolic/lactic acid) + BHA (salicylic acid)

Combining AHA and BHA in one session can over-exfoliate and irritate.

Pick one per session; limit total exfoliation to a few times a week.
