BHA (salicylic acid)
Salicylic acid — an oil-soluble exfoliant that gets inside pores to clear blackheads and breakouts. Ideal for oily, acne-prone skin.
How to use it
Works as a leave-on a few times a week or in a cleanser. Don’t stack with other acids on the same night.
Avoid combining with
Retinoid + BHA can over-exfoliate and compromise the barrier.
→ Alternate nights rather than layering in the same session.
Two low-pH actives together can irritate and destabilize each other.
→ Use at different times of day.
Multiple exfoliating acids in one session over-exfoliate the skin.
→ Use one exfoliant at a time, a few times a week.
Combining AHA and BHA in one session can over-exfoliate and irritate.
→ Pick one per session; limit total exfoliation to a few times a week.
